Dearest Elena,
This month we celebrate the most significant holiday for us, Mother’s Day! Finally I get share this book with you, something I have wanted to do for a very long time. It is God Found Us You by Lisa Tawn Bergren.
It begins with Little Fox asking Mama Fox, to tell him about the day he came home.
“Oh yes.” Mama says with a smile. “That is my favorite story of all. When God found us you, it made me the happiest mother in the world.” She continues, “For so long, I dreamed of you.” She said snuggling closer. She tells Little Fox she started seeing him everywhere, in the bark of the pine and in the stars. “And then I came?” he asks. She answers, “No, no matter how much I prayed for it to happen, I still had to wait.”
Little Fox asks her if she ever wanted to give up? She said sometimes, but she trusted that God knew her and knew him and knew when they would fit perfectly together. Then Little Fox asks her, “Mama, will you be my forever mama?” She answers, “Always and forever, no matter what. This is where you belong. Here with me, my sweet child. You are mine, the best gift in the whole world.” And Little Fox goes to sleep and dreams of the day he first smelled his mama and knew he was loved and finally home. Mama whispers in his dreams, “When God found us you, you made me the happiest mama in the world.”
Elena, this book is very meaningful for me because I felt exactly the way Mama Fox felt. When you came to me it made me the happiest mother in the world. There is something about being a mother that is so remarkable, like nothing I have ever experienced. I am in awe of how powerful the bond is between us, one that is unique because it can only come from me and you. Mother’s Day honors this bond, the extraordinary relationship between all mothers and their children.
I want you to know that being your mother is for me, the greatest honor. Every day I can’t believe how lucky I am that I get to have you in my life. You are beautiful in every way. Like Mama Fox, Daddy and I had to wait a long time to have you. Also like Mama Fox, I knew that you would come when God felt the timing was right. Daddy and I had to wait for over two and half years to finally have you. We ran out of all options to have children, except one, and the first time we tried that option, it worked! I never lost hope. Mommy believes it worked the first time because it was meant to be, exactly in that way, and at that precise time… God Found Us You.
I could not be more proud to be your mother and give you as many kisses as I want, maybe 1000 times a day! I love that you let me kiss you so much and may it be so for the rest of our lives. Elena, what Mama Fox said is exactly the truth. You belong here with me. You are mine, the best gift in the whole wide world.
Elena, I hope that I am a good mother and that I pass to you everything I know about the world and any good qualities I have. I also understand that I need to let you grow in the way God intended, so I promise I will let you run the show. Know that I’ll always be there to catch you, if you fall, because I love you with all my heart and soul. You are an unimaginable beauty, inside and out. Happy Mother’s Day, my angel.
